Our Co-Curricular Activities
Our school is proud to introduce the glorious Movements and Clubs which help our students to enrich their attitude, social concern, patriotic solidarity, spiritual development and so on. Students from VI standard to XII standard are encouraged to enroll themselves in any one of the following movements and clubs to enhance their all round growth and development.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The motto of NSS Not me but you reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service.Volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite the scarcity of resources. Our NSS volunteers are involved in various activities such as (i) Cleaning the campus (ii) Planting and maintaining the saplings (iii) Awareness processions and rallies (iv) Inviting doctors for health camps etc.,
NCC Army
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Army gives basic military training in small arms and parades. The motto of NCC Army is Unity and Discipline. The students are trained and moulded into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation. It aims to help the students ingaining mental and physical strength at an early age and our students are given opportunities to take part in sniper shooting, mountaineering, first aid, social work and road safety.
NCC Navy
The NCC Naval unit of our school aims at developing the qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure, ideals of selfless service among the students to make them useful citizens. Basic useful knots are also taught to our students which are helpful in their day to day life. The motto of NCC Navy is Unity and Discipline. Our Naval wing NCC functions with the strength of 100 students from standards VIII and IX.
Junior Red Cross (JRC)
The JRC movement aims to inculcate a service mindset among the students with the lofty objective of always being ready to serve. Students from standards VI, VII and VIII are eligible and are enrolled in this movement. Our JRC volunteers participate in immunization programmes such as Pulse Polio and Measles,rallies, competitions, tree plantations and awareness programmes on health and hygiene.
Bharat Scouts and Guides
The mission of scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value based system on the scout promise and law. Always Be Preparedto serve others is the motto of this movement. Students from VI to VIII standards are enrolled in this movement.
Road Safety Patrol (RSP) and Eco Club
In RSP club, the students are trained to learn the traffic rules and follow them in their lives. The RSP volunteers create awareness on environmental protection, planting saplings and the ways to avoid 14 types of plastics. The motto of RSP is we live to serve. Accident prevention and accident reduction are achieved through RSP cadets.
National Green Corps (NGC)
The NGC volunteers participate in activities related to bio diversity conservation, water conservation, energy conservation, waste management, land use planning and resource management. The club maintains cleanliness of the school premises, planting saplings and conservation of natural resources and environment. Students from standards VI to IX are selected for this club.
Red Ribbon Club (RRC)
Red Ribbon Club spreads awareness on HIV/AIDS. It envisages to instill charity mind among all the students to extend their help towards developing healthy lifestyles and creating awareness about donating blood to all the needy. Students of VIII, IX and XI standards are selected for this club. Awareness on sex education, deworming, physical and eye checkup camps, supply of iron tablets and nilavembu lukewarm water are administered through this club.
Valan Fine Arts Club
Valan Fine Arts Club encourages the students to express their thoughts, feelings and creativity. The club conducts several training programmes to showcase the artistic talents of our students. Spectacular art performances on dance, music and drama are performed and students are trained to participate in several cultural competitions to win prizes.
Veerama Munivar Tamil Literary Club
The aim of this club is to identify the young creators and to train and mould them into excellent poets, orators, writers and multitalented creators. Special training is also provided to participate in television programs and other cultural competitions.
Campion English Literary Club
Imparting the essential elements of listening, speaking, reading and writing to the Tamil medium students has been initiated through this Literary club. Ample stress and focus are given for the vernacular medium wards to accelerate their innate, intuitive and innovative skills in English.
Audibert Science Club
The Science Club aims to develop students’ scientific thinking, creativity and their interest in science. The club aims to promote inquisitiveness among the students and inculcate scientific temper among them. The students are motivated to participate in various science exhibitions and competitions and they have achieved several State level prizes and awards.
Leveil History and Heritage Club
“Leveil History and Heritage Club” has been motivating the students in the field of history with important news documents, antiques, stamp collection and coin collection. The club actively preserves and documents the arts and cultural identities of Tamilnadu.
Mathematical Intelligence Club
The club trains the students to improve their ability to reason, logical thinking, understanding abstract ideas and to work on logic puzzles, brain teasers etc., The club motivates and guides the students to take part actively in the National level eligibility tests.
The Human Rights Movement
Speaking up about injustices is an integral part of human rights education. Our school Human Rights Movement works to promote equality regardless of caste, creed, language and it creates awareness on the rights of women, children and the senior citizens.
Interact Club
Interact club educates students about the values of humanity and helping everyone with good intentions. The club emphasizes acceptance of individual responsibility as the basis of personal success, community improvement and group achievement. Students from standards VII, VIII, IX and XI are selected and admitted in this club.
Manresa Spiritual Club
The foremost aim and purpose of this club is to guide the Christian students to be spiritually pious and morally sound. Weekly catechism classes are conducted to teach the basic doctrine of Christianity. Catechism usually includes questions and answers on the topics about God, Sin, Christ, Salvation, the law, prayer and the sacraments.
LASAC
LASAC stands forLeadership and Social Awareness Camp. LASAC is a movement created by the Jesuit Priests in the year 1974 with the lofty aim of developing various skills and talents among the school students of the Jesuit Institutions. The camps conducted during the annual vacation help the students to enhance their personality development, leadership training and social awareness.
Consumer Club
Being aware and vigilant in consumer related issues is the motto of our consumer club. The club works smoothly on the advice of the legal experts and it gives awareness on consumer laws. The club enables them to become aware of their duties as a consumer and making them into better citizens. The fundamental duty of every consumer is to know their rights.
Kanal – Writer’s Forum
Students who are interested in journalism are given priority and selected for the Kanal – Writer’s Forum. Kanal, students’ magazine is published once in three months all over the Jesuit Schools in Tamilnadu. In all the schools, students are motivated to think creatively and write poems, essays and snippets and draw pictures, cartoons etc., The best articles are chosen and published in the Kanal magazine.
De Nobili Readers Club
De Nobili Readers Club inculcates the habit of reading books among the students. Around 1500 students have been enrolled as members of the District Central library. The uses of reading books, newspapers and different journals have been highlighted to the students. Moreover, quiz competitions were conducted and the club members were motivated to improve their LSRW skills and read more books.
De Britto Quiz Club
Our school Quiz club aims to instill in our students the values of knowledge, wisdom, compassion and make them smart citizens. The club is geared towards creating the potential among the students to excel in all competitive examinations at school and district level.
Inigo Music Club
Our school Music club was formed in the year 1975 which included the teachers as well as the students. The club trains the students and encourages them to participate in school functions and celebrations in our Parish Church. The members of the club are provided with opportunities to perform their music talent.
SUPAM (Students Upliftment of Animation Movement)
SUPAM aims to develop and acquire the quality of helping others at an early age. SUPAM is created by the students and for the students. The main purpose of SUPAM is to identify the students from low level income families and to provide them learning aids, school uniforms and medical aids. Students develop the concept that Sharing is Caring through this exceptional movement.
GSP – Government Service Project
GSP prepares students to face the civil service examinations and other competitive exams in a confident way. The club also provides information regarding the age limit, eligibility and syllabus for these exams. The aim of GSP is to enrich our students’ governing skill and personality development.
Commerce Club
The objective of Commerce Club is to develop skills to meet the changing business environment and to learn business management practices. The club also helps and motivates the students to build their personality and leadership qualities. Some quiz programmes, speeches, discussions on topical issues are also organized by this club.
NEET – Government Training Centre for Competitive exams
In collaboration with Tamilnadu Government School EducationDepartment the centre aims to prepare students (Trichy-Urban) for the State and National level Competitive examinations like NEET, JEE etc., All over Tamilnadu, there are 412 centres which focus on discharging quality education to ensure the success of the students. Our school centre is considered to be one of the best centres with smart room facility, online class rooms and well qualified resource persons.
